Playground Profile: Kennedy Park {Highland Park}

Located a few miles outside of downtown Highland Park, newly renovated Kennedy Park is a great spot for your kids to play this summer. We made a weekday trip to visit this updated park and there were five families soaking in the sun and enjoying this new playground.

At first sight, we found one of our favorite park amenities, a merry-go-round with ropes to climb! As expected, this was the first stop for my two boys and is one of the highlights of this park. Be ready to give them a spin because they may ask you more than a few times.

We always find that the best parks have swings, and Kennedy Park has swings for kids of all ages. With two regular swings and two for smaller children, your whole family can enjoy this playground staple. The other main highlight of this park is the saucer swing. While there was only one, this type of swing is always a hit with kids of all ages.

With multiple slides, a small rock wall, tons of spinners, and a climbing net, Kennedy Park offers plenty of options for the active kids in your family. It also features a great fire truck playground for the younger ones. It’s sure to keep them having fun and putting out fires in the summer heat.

With many large trees just steps off of the playground, there is plenty of shade available on a warm and sunny day. Kennedy Park also offers a basketball court, a baseball field, soccer field, and a massive amount of open space to play. Families could bring kites, mitts, frisbees, soccer balls, footballs and even set up their own games.
