Last weekend my kids and I enjoyed a morning of crafting and playing at Gap Kids Old Orchard for the Shine On Saturdays program.
My kids are very creative and love to craft. I love to foster their inner budding artist. However, sometimes it’s nice to have someone else think up the activity, provide the resources and best of all, clean up! The Gap Kids Shine On Saturdays Events were designed by blogger, illustrator, painters, crafter, and all around creative Merrilee Liddiard from Mer Mag.
The morning we were there we were creating journals. My kids love having little notebooks to carry around and draw doodles and write in so they were super excited. They g0t to work as soon as we walked in the door.
The staff helped them put the books together and then they were set free to express themselves and decorate the covers. We got there right when they opened so it wasn’t too crowded and the kids loved all the stickers and adornments.
There were so many colors and patterns of both paper and the washi tape they used to close it that there wasn’t even any grumping from my son about it being too girlie! You have one more chance to let your kids get creative with Gap Kids and Mer Mag this weekend:
t was fun to spend a relaxing morning getting crafty with the kids, and even nicer to leave the mess behind for someone else! If you can’t make it to one of the Shine on Saturday Events be sure to visit the Gap Facebook Page where they post fun activities you can do at home with the kids, like a fill in the blank printable story! (check in the albums for past Shine on Saturday activities)
