Lake County Children’s Theatre Productions – Fall/Winter 2013

children's theatre in lake countyI love live theatre and Lake County has a wealth of great theatre groups that put on shows that are perfect for families and children of all ages. Most young children delight in the wonder of seeing a story come to life around them and many of the children’s theatre’s in the area are appropriate for preschool age and up. I have taken my own children as young as 18 months to the Marriott Theatre for Young Audiences. Here is a look at what’s coming up in Children’s Theatre this fall and winter. Spotlight Youth Theater
Spotlight Youth Theater is a youth theater troupe that puts on performance throughout the area. Performed by local youth the shows are appropriate for all ages. For further information on the Lake County productions see the website or email lake@spotlight.org This years Lake County Productions:

October 19 through November 23
Pinkalicious The Musical
Based on the popular book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann Enjoy a sweet treat of music and dance! A girl names Pinkalicious eats so many pink cupcakes that she develops Pinkitis and turns pink from head to toe. She will need the wisdom off her broccoli- eating brother to help her out of her pink predicament. The delightful story features tap-dancing, Broadway-style ballads and a little brother singing the blues.

January 18 through February 22
Goodnight Moon The Musical
This musical transforms the simple story of a young bunny preparing for sleep into a 3-D wonderland, full of catchy songs, delightful choreography, a colorful set and clever costumes. The rhyming ritual and the great green room come alive as the bunny dances and sings his way to sweet dreams, along with the dancing bears with chairs the Cat and the Fiddle the Cow Jumping Over the Moon and even a Trip through the night sky with dancing constellations .

Snoopy!!! The Musical
It’s remarkable! Fantastic! Entertaining! This musical based on the Charles M. Schulz comic strip is a sequel to the 2011-12 production of “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” The familiar characters and catchy tunes cause Snoopy!!! to be the perfect show to open the 2013-14 Season.  Suitable for all ages.
Advance tickets $15, $18 at the door.

The Marriott Theatre is the premiere theatre in our area featuring an intimate space with the unique in the round stage experience. This winter they have two family suitable shows that we can’t wait to tell you more about in the coming weeks!

 

October 23, 2013 – January 5, 2014
Mary Poppins – The Broadway Musical
The world’s favorite nanny arrives on the Marriott stage! Bring the whole family and spend a “Jolly Holiday” with Mary and an irresistible cast of characters. See website for special family performances during the holidays.

 

 

November 9 – December 28
The Nutcracker – A New Musical of the Classic Tale!
This seasons performance by the Marriott Theatre for Young Audiences will be sure to make the holidays bright! A special one-hour presentation for children of all ages!

The Nutcracker runs most Tuesdays through Saturdays at 10am with some performances at 12:30 p.m.. Single tickets are $15 per person.

November 7 – 9
Wizard of Oz
By Kids for Kids! Put on your ruby slippers and follow the yellow brick road with Dorothy. It’s an exciting, musical adventure through Oz with the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Munchkins, witches and more! Recommend for grades k-3.  Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children.
