There are ways to give back to the community in the sweetest way, and a little boy named Felix figured out how to do exactly that. Inspired by his Grandma Toni’s giving heart, Felix began to help bake and sell his grandma’s delicious cookie recipe, “pan de polvo,”when he was only six years old. His Grandma had a heart of gold, and believed in giving back to those who need it most as much as possible. Although Felix only knew her for a very short time, he was impacted by her kindness, and wanted to carry on with a tradition she would have been proud of. With each cookie he sold, Felix would donate all of the profits to charity to honor her memory. Felix and his mom would spend time going to many local events, selling the cookies with a lot of success.  A few years later, they decided to turn their baking hobby into a baking business. Their family-owned company was founded by Felix, and Felix continues the tradition of giving back to the community by donating a portion of every single cookie sold back to a different not-for-profit organization each month.

Felix’s Famous Cookies became a successful business in 2014, but with that success also came obstacles. Getting started was difficult, as it usually is with any small business. Lack of funding was always a problem, and they even had to turn down orders from companies and other businesses since they were such a small company working out of a shared kitchen. Despite their hardships and challenges, the business moved forward, and Felix continued his tradition of baking delicious cookies and giving back to the community. Felix and his family credit the success of the company to their dedication to charity. Some of the organizations he has donated to include Lake County Haven, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Wounded Warrior Project, and Blessings in a Backpack.

Felix is now an eleven-year-old boy, who in many ways is just like most kids his age. He loves Pokemon, playing and watching soccer, and of course, baking. He hopes to be a chef or a restaurant owner when he grows up. Unlike most kids his age though, he is on a very specific mission. His goal is to donate to at least one not- for-profit organization in all 50 states! He works hard on this goal daily and knows he can do it, even though he is young. He believes that age should never hold you back when you have a dream, and “if there is a will, there is a way.” It is a mantra he lives by, and he knows that his grandma would be proud of him for pushing forward with his goals. He knows that not only will people love his delicious cookie recipes, but the charities that he can give money to will benefit from the donations as well.
