Holiday traditions look different to every family, and I’ve learned that traditions in my family tend to be about togetherness. We may not do the same thing every year, but we do it together and that counts for me. Aside from baking cookies, sneaking out late one night for ice cream and light viewing, we’re pretty basic when it comes to holiday festivities. One yearly tradition we do follow as an extended family every year, though, is decorating gingerbread houses.
Year after year our family purchases those flimsy gingerbread kits and assembles them across four generations at grandma’s house. Without fail, the houses cave in, the icing is never tacky enough, and the houses only stand because of the tradition we once started. Tiny candies litter the kitchen floor, someone complains that their creation looks nothing like the box, and we end up displaying them for laughs. It still might be one of my favorite traditions because of the uninterrupted time we share. What are the secrets of the experts and what does it actually take to create a gingerbread house of folklore, though? I certainly haven’t figured it out in some thirty years, but Taste Buds Kitchen has!
Creativity abounds, the mess stays out of grandma’s kitchen, and the houses are surely something to be proud of. Join the friendly staff at Taste Buds Kitchen for the most creative gingerbread house workshop around. You’ll sip cocoa, and spend some quality time together learning tips and tricks while creating a magical moment amidst the holiday chaos.
