Festival Round-up for May 15 – 17

festivals in lake countyFestival season seems to be officially kicking off this weekend with festivals and celebrations for just about anyone and everyone! Here are the Lake County Festivals happening this weekend:

Friday May 15

  • 9:00 a.m. Long Grove’s Chocolate Festival, Downtown Long Grove. Festival. From chocolate-dipped strawberries and donuts to brownies and fudge, join us for a weekend filled with limitless chocolatey treats, live music, great food and distinctive shopping, all in the charming setting of Historic Downtown Long Grove.
  • 6:00 p.m. 885 Civic Club Annual Carnival, Antioch Municpal Lot. This is an old fashioned carnival where all of the staple foods and rides are available.

Saturday May 16

  • 9:00 a.m. Long Grove’s Chocolate Festival, Downtown Long Grove. Festival.   • 10:00 a.m. Bees, Babies, & Blossoms Spring Celebration, Apple Holler, Sturtevant WI.  Tours, photo ops, puppet show, pony rides and more.
  • 10:00 a.m. Malott Japanese Garden Children’s Festival, Chicago Botanic Gardens, Glencoe. Learn about children’s celebrations in Japan during this special weekend of activities. Listen to koto harp and shakuhachi flute music, enjoy traditional folk tales, and watch a tea ceremony. Read about Melissa’s Festival experience.
  • 10:00 a.m. Train Day at Lambs Farm, Libertyville. Children of all ages can don their conductor’s hat and navigate a Thomas the Tank Engine train or view the famous circus-themed trains courtesy of NCOG Model Railroad Club and models from the Circus Model Builders club.
  • 1:00 p.m. 885 Civic Club Annual Carnival, Antioch Municpal Lot. This is an old fashioned carnival where all of the staple foods and rides are available.
  • 5:00 p.m. ArtWauk, Waukegan Art District. Monthly celebration of arts in the Arts & Entertainment District in Waukegan. Each month this event showcases different art and artists at over 20 venues, offering free access to each site and a chance to meet the artists.

Sunday May 17

  • 10:00 a.m. Bees, Babies, & Blossoms Spring Celebration, Apple Holler, Sturtevant WI.  Tours, photo ops, puppet show, pony rides and more.

  • 12:00 p.m. AAUW Preschool Spring Carnival, AAUW Preschool Waukegan. Spring Carnival featuring a petting zoo, pony rides, kids games, face painting, bounce house, Waukegan fire truck, K-9 demonstration, silent auction and a cash raffle with a prize up to $1,000!
  • 12:00 p.m. MYA Annual Fun Fest, MYA Cetner at Fort Sheridan, Highwood. All day FUN FEST: MYA Family & Community Fun Fest with concerts and family friendly activities.
  • 12:00 p.m. Touch a Tractor, Bonner Heritage Farm, Lindenhurst. Climb into the seat of a real tractor and learn about farming past and present. Enjoy wagons rides, kids crafts and more!
  • 1:00 p.m. Live Green Family Festival, Bowen Park, Waukegan. Fun hands-on activities including: nature scavenger hunt, nature walk (and learn about Bowen Park’s history), reptile show, plant in the Children’s Garden, nature crafts and rock climbing.
