Stress-Free Shopping & Selling at Green Kids Resale {Round Lake Beach}

What if I told you there was a magical store where they entertained your children while you shopped? They gave you money for your kids’ out-grown clothes, toys, shoes, and baby gear; you could buy new birthday gifts, back-to-school clothes, school uniforms, sports equipment, and Halloween costumes all in one place. Oh, and you’ll save lots of money, too–you might even walk out with cash in hand! Would you believe me? This place is REAL. This is not a magical Mom-utopia; this is Green Kids Resale.

Conveniently located on the south east corner of Rollins and Route 83 in Round Lake, Green Kids Resale has been making parents’ lives easier and saving families money since 2011. It seems like they’re always open. The store closes only for a few of the major holidays, so whenever you need to shop or you’re ready to drop off, you can find a convenient time. They’re open until 8:00 p.m. during the week, so you can always sneak in after work or activities, too.

I make it a point to stop at Green Kids about once a month to check their inventory–although I wish I could make it by everyday! I’ve fallen into a pretty good rhythm of bringing in items and then shopping. I keep a bag for Green Kids in my kids’ closets, and toss items in as they’re no longer needed. When I’m driving by the shop I will drop it off, and then get a phone call within two days with an offer. You can have a check mailed to you, or store credit applied to your account. If you accept store credit, you will receive 20% more than cash for your items. I usually have a credit on my account so I will often leave well stocked without actually spending any money. New items are added every day throughout the day, keeping their racks full of great deals on just about everything you need for preemies up to size 16 big kids. There’s no need to play the sale game or search for coupons with Green Kids, either. The prices are always great.

If you’re a bargain hunter like me, you might be a garage saler , too. Let me go ahead and give you a little tip that will save you time and money: When it is all said and done you can sell your clothes to Green Kids for a lot less headache (maybe even more money, too). I have a garage sale every year, but one thing always caused me stress and made a lot more work–the kids’ clothes.  Pricing, sorting, and displaying the clothes made my sales so much work I didn’t even want to have a sale. Now I take in all the nicer clothes and get store credit from Green Kids, and I put everything else out at my sale in a box for $.50 each. I don’t have to hold onto to boxes full of clothes as the kids grow out of them anymore. I can take just a few items or a couple boxes at any time. You can feel good about buying and selling with Green Kids, too. They regularly support local schools and contribute to programs like Busy Brains and local preschools.

Not only does Green Kids provide great options for buying and selling kids’ stuff while saving (or making) money, they make shopping easier for parents, too. Located in the center of the store is a kids’ play area that will contain your active toddler or entertain your bigger kids. Plop them in the “Fun Forest” filled with toys and books while you shop within earshot of the play area. You can browse the racks hands free without little helpers, wanderers, or distractions.
