Where to donate School Supplies in Lake County – 2018

If you are reading this, you are probably able to provide all the supplies your child needs for school. However, many families in our area cannot provide some or any of the supplies their children need to succeed in school. We’ve collected all the school supply drives in Lake County that we could find. School Supply Drives in Lake County

United Way of Lake County is always in need of NEW or Gently-Used: School Supplies, Books for Pre-K through 5th Grade, Bookbags, and office supplies. Contact Sara Martinez at (847) 775-1026 to coordinate donations.

102.3XLC Back to School Supply Drive
Saturday August 11, 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.
St. Vincent DePaul Libertyville Thrift Shop, 115 S. Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville
XLC will be collecting supplies to help as many students as possible have the supplies they need for a successful new school year. Donate a backpack filled with all supplies and spin the 102.3 XLC prize wheel to win! Donate some supplies get a hot dog, while supplies last.

Backpack Drive
Sunday Augyst 19, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Heritage Church, 255 North Quentin Rd., Lake Zurich
Heritage Church has once again partnered with Joanie’s Closet, a District 95 Foundation, that serves under-resourced students and their families. We will be providing backpacks and school supplies for over 100 students in our communities. A donation of $25 plus a backpack will ensure these students have everything they need when they start school! Donations can be brought to Heritage Church Lake Zurich office Monday -Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.. More information can be found here.

School Supply and Book Drive
Runner Edge Libertyville, 524 N. Milwakee Ave., Libertyville
The Runner’s Edge is hosting its 2nd annual School Supply & Book Drive. This year, we are teaming up with North Chicago schools to help students and teachers start 2018-2019 off on their best foot!
Donations can be dropped off through August 25.

Families Helping Families Chicagoland
New school supplies needed!! We provide thousands of supplies for low-income local kids. Drop-off pencils/markers/crayons/glue or anything else in the school supply section at:

  • Midtown Athletic Club, 2211 Waukegan Rd., Bannockburn
  • Eye Level of Northbrook  Learning Center, 1512 Shermer Rd., Ste B, Northbrook
  • Glamour Girlz Central, 457 Central Ave., Highland Park
  • Sach Recreation Center, 455 Lake Cook Rd., Deerfield

Waukegan Housing Authourity
215 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Waukegan
The Waukegan Housing Authority is collecting items and money for Project Backpack 2018. Items are needed before August 20 and are:

  • Backpacks (gender neutral)
  • Two pocket folders
  • Spiral Notebooks
  • Filler paper
  • #2 pencils
  • Glue sticks
  • Rulers
  • Crayons

McHenry County
Donations of NEW school supplies are being accepted at The Salvation Army Community Center, 290 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake and at locations throughout McHenry County.

  1. Through 8/31, shoppers can donate school supplies that will benefit the surrounding school districts and nonprofit organizations, including the Naval Station Great Lakes. Supplies including notebooks, pens/pencils, folders, backpacks, and other essentials can be dropped off at Gurnee Mills in the designated bins inside Macy’s.
