Apple picking is starting to slow, and the pumpkins are ripe and ready! Our family can’t wait to decorate our front steps with jack-o-lanterns, but we’ll have to head out and find the perfect pumpkins! October 27- Wear your costumes for a fun fall day with a spooky model train on display! Hang around after exploring the track with Thomas for fun activities!

October 14- The Round Lake Park District Prairie Grass Nature Museum is planning a fun day of crafts, activities and nature walks to celebrate Illinois’ tree- the White Oak- along with all other oaks!
- Night of 1,000 Jack-o-Lanterns
October 24 -28 More than 1,000 hand-carved pumpkins will light up the night at the Chicago Botanic Garden. These aren’t you’re ordinary Jack-o-Lanterns some take up to 15 hours to carve. Seasonal food available for purchase and the the model railroad garden is open. Admission is $18 for Adults and $15 for children.

October 20 October isn’t just for Halloween, learn about the Mexican holiday of Dia de los Muertos at this cultural event featuring sugar skulls, food, painting and more.

October 26 No fire pit? You can still enjoy a fall campfire, head to Greenbelt Cultural Center for their FREE community campfires. Event includes nature walk, s’mores and a campfire.

October 13, 20 & 27 Meet members of the community like Dog Trainers, Fire Men and Police Officers at this fun drop-in storytime.
- Long Grove DIY Scarecrow Day
October 13 Bring some old clothes and create your own scarecrow to decorate the streets of Long Grove. straw and building guidance and voting on favorites will take place.
