Friday Night Dance Party
Every Friday, 6:30 p.m.

Denise Sabala Dance Studios, 560 W. Main St., Lake Zurich
This 45-minute class is catered to special needs students. Explore your body’s space around you through rhythm, music, socialization, and dancing.

Single Day Events for Children with Special Needs

Early Intervention Library Play Group
2 May 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. 
Round Lake Area Library, Round Lake
Early intervention is teaming up with local libraries to offer play groups for families in Early intervention and library patrons with children under 3 years of age. The play groups will have a short story/song time, craft and play time.

Special Night for Special Needs
2 May, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Jump America, 880 Lakeside Drive, Gurnee
Special Needs Night is held on the first Wednesday of every month; enjoy jumping with low noise and little distraction!

 

Sensory Sensitive Sundays
6 May, 9:00 -11:00 a.m. 

Chuck E Cheese Vernon Hills, 700 N Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills
Enjoy games and food with reduced lighting and noise.  Staff will be trained and caring about autism and other special needs.

Sensory-Friendly Family Film: Monsters Inc.
9 May 4:00 – 5:45 p.m.

Deerfield Public Library, 920 Waukegan Rd., Deerfield
The Library welcomes families and children of all abilities to enjoy a movie with the lights turned up, the sound turned down, and the option to walk, dance, and sing during the movie. No registration required!

Early Intervention Library Play Group
15 May 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Cook Park Library, Milwukee Ave., Libertyville

Down Syndrome Developmental Council (DDC) Monthly Playgroup
15 May, call for time
Pediatric Interactions, 649 Barron Rd., Grayslake
All family members are invited for an interactive group play therapy session. The session is led by a developmental therapist and hosted by various DDC parents, and includes dinner. A Spanish language interpreter is available with advance notice. FREE of charge. RSVP to Kris Murray at (847) 630-4991; Spanish speaking families should contact Maria at (847) 219-9200.

Autism Parent Support Group Meeting
Buffalo Wild Wings, 500  East Rollins Road, Round Lake
This is a relaxed meeting where we can enjoy a meal with parents of children on the spectrum. If you will attend please email peggy@autismfamilycares.org

Everyone at Play
20 May, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Kohl Children’s Museum, 2100 Patriot Boulevard, Glenview
This special morning event offers FREE admission for families with children with special needs to explore the museum exhibits in a controlled, quieter environment. Registration required, visit www.kcmgc.org/eap. Everyone at Play is underwritten in part by RBC Wealth Management, the Edmond and Alice Opler Foundation, and the Women’s Board of Kohl Children’s Museum.
