Kite Fly & Earth Day Celebration – Lindenhurst

FREE. Part of the Illinois Flying 4 Kids Celebration bring your family, a picnic lunch, and your favorite kite and have fun! The first 50 participants will receive a free kite.
Family Kite Fly – Vernon Hills
April 23, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Century Park, 1001 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills
FREE. Come to this free family event to support the Illinois Park & Recreation Association’s Flying 4 Kids program. Bring your own kite or purchase one at the event for $6.
Family Kite Fly – Zion
April 30, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Zion Park District Leisure Center, 2400 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion
FREE. Join the Zion Park District as they celebrate Flying 4 Kids 2016. Chicago Kite will be showing off massive kites with performances and demonstrations. Families can enjoy watching and fly their own. Concessions will be available or bring a picnic. The first 50 kids will receive a free kite.
5th Annual Barrington Area Kidfest
May 7, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Rain date is May 8.)

FREE. The Barrington Kite Fly and the Family Nature Fest–two great events, one fabulous day! Enjoy a wide variety of fun, free, outdoor activities. All family members must stop at the registration table for a wristband to participate.
Kids and Kites

Come to KFK to make your own kite (or bring your own) and see how high it will fly! All materials will be provided. The event is free, but tickets are required. Order your tickets on Eventbrite .
Kite Flying for Kids
May 14, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Bevier Park, 2255 W. Yorkhouse Rd., Waukegan
Bring your favorite kite to the park for a flight with the family. Kite kits are also available, while supplies last. This is a free, statewide event that brings awareness to the Park District Youth License Plate ($25 from each sale lands in a special grant fund for youth programming at park and recreation agencies in Illinois). Kite Festival – Glencoe

Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Rd., Glencoe
In the meadow west of Evening Island, enjoy soaring stunt-kite performances set to music by members of the Chicago Fire Kite Team and members of the Kite Society of Wisconsin & Illinois. Kite making workshops and a Kids’ Mad Dash event will be included in the festival.
5th Annual Friends of Waukegan Kite Fly
September 18, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Waukegan Municipal Beach, 201 East Sea Horse Drive, Waukegan
Come fly away with Chicago Kite/Kite Harbor and The Friends of Waukegan. Enjoy watching amazing kite stunts, tricks and flips. Super Large Kites By Mike Holl, and Wisconson Kiters will be on hand, too.
Kite Fly – Crystal Lake
October 2, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Keep your eyes to the skies for the Crystal Lake Kite Fly. Kites of all sizes, some as large as 90 feet, will be soaring through the sky for all to see. Participate in learn-to-fly lessons, fun family flying, and single-line flying. Chicagokite will be on hand for all of your kiting needs.

Chicago Kids and Kites Fest

Montrose Harbor, 601 West Montrose Ave., Chicago
The largest kite festival of them all will include large kite and sport kite flying demonstrations, Other highlights include free kits for children to design and create their own kite, Kohl’s story bus, Giant Kite Flyer, face painting, arts and crafts, roaming entertainment, and more.
Family Kite Festival
May 28, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and May 29, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Veterans Park, 1010 N. Lincoln Memorial Dr, Milwaukee, WI
FREE. This festival features the Chicago Fire Kite Team, The Windjammers, Josh and Zach Gordon, Dan Newman, Paul Koepke, Mike Delfar, and the Giant Kites of Alex and Guy from Montreal, and Jean Lemire. The Grand Launch of 500 kites will take place at noon, and the Kid’s Mad Dash will take place at 2:00 pm. Kites and food will be sold at the festival.
