It’s FALL and that means it’s times for pumpkin patches, apple orchards and festivals! So thrown on your favorite sweater and scarf and make some fall memories with these Fall Festivals in Lake County.

Ravinia District Food Truck Thursdays – September 14
{Highland Park} Enjoy a wide variety of food and drinks from more than a dozen food trucks and local restaurants while enjoying live outdoor musical performances.

 

Autumn Fest – September 15
{Highland Park} Celebrate the bounty of the season with crafts, games, a self guided nature walks, pony rides, hayrides, a campfire, live reptiles, a pumpkin hunt and more! Food will be available for purchase.

Fiestas at the Harbor – September 15 – 17
{Waukegan} Fiestas at the Harbor is a three day celebration of Fiestas Patrias, Mexican Independence Day! Music, cultural entertainment and food will be available.

Celebrate The Stupey’s Cabin’s 170th Birthday – September 16
{Highland Park} Have a sneak peak inside the Cabin as it enters its last phase of preservation! Enjoy family activities such as story-telling, poetry, campfires, s’more making, pony rides, a petting zoo, sing-a-longs, plus LIVE music! Food & beverage are available for purchase, and don’t miss the biergarten from Ravinia Brewing Company.

Block Party 2017 – September 16
{Lake Forest} Bring your blankets & lawn chairs and enjoy food, music & entertainment at the Block Party. Highlights will include Wildlife Discovery Center petting zoo, Star Wars costume contest, live music and a sunset showing of The Force Awakens.

ArtWauk -September 16
{Waukegan} Each month this event showcases different art and artists at over 20 venues, offering free access to each site and a chance to meet the artists. Join the throngs exposed to art, music, performances, theatres, shops, and restaurants!

Lake County Farm Stroll – September 17
{across Lake County} The Lake County Farm Stroll is a self-guided tour of Lake County’s diversified family farms. There is no beginning or end to the tour, just simply choose the farms you wish to visit.

Fallapalooza – September 17
{Wheeling} Live music by Billy Croft and the Five Alarm, petting zoo, pony rides, inflatables, and hayrides are just some of the activities you’ll find in the line-up of entertainment just for you and your neighbors and family.

Shermer Fest– September 17
{Northbrook} Take a step back in time at this fun-filled community fall festival. Collectible and antique car show, children’s activities, hot dogs, soup and home-made sweets.

Lake County Harvest Festival – September 22 – 24
{Grayslake} The Lake County Fairgrounds and the Lake County Farm Heritage Association are excited to be bringing Farm Heritage Days, Oktoberfest, Live Music, Rides, & More to the Fairgrounds!

Fall Family Fun Fest – September 23
{Hawthorn Woods} At this FREE event, you can swim in the pool, touch-a-truck, be creative with arts and crafts, and go on a mini-train ride!

Long Grove Apple FestivalSeptember 22-24
{Long Grove} Celebrate Fall with the 26th Annual Apple Fest. Visitors can expect to have bushels of fun at this celebration of fall’s favorite fruit and the many delicious ways to enjoy it in historic downtown Long Grove.

45th Anniversary Celebration – September 23
{Round Lake} Celebrate the Round Lake Area Public Library’s 45th all day long. We’ll be remembering our beginnings with a 70’s theme birthday party. Stop by throughout the day for snacks, library tours, photo ops with a surprise guest, and much more!

Oktoberfest – September 23
{Vernon Hills} Free kids crafts, while supplies last. Free pumpkins to paint, while supplies last, The free hay ride is sponsored by the Vernon Hills Park District. Pick up a free tree from the Park District while supplies last.

Deerfield Havest Festival –  September 23
{Deerfiled}  Live Music, Free Admission, Free Food and Fun in downtown Deerfield.

Art in the Barn – September 23-24
Fine art will be on display and ready for purchase to take home. New this year, children can enjoy a petting zoo and feed the animals or create their own art in the Children’s Art Tent.

Octoberfest – September 29 -30
{Wheeling} $5 person; Children 12 and younger FREE
Join the Wheeling Park District for two days of food, merriment and music at the annual Oktoberfest event! There will be German and domestic beer, bratwurst, and live entertainment.

1st Annual Community Harvest Fest  –  September 30
{Libertyville}, Free
Enjoy a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, crafts , and more.

October Festivals

Fall Festival – October 1
Hosted by Grant Township this event features a touch-a-truck, inflatables, pony rides from Patch 22, a pie eating contest, hay rides, and a pumpkin decorating contest.

Fall Bulb Festival – October 6-8
{Glencoe} There’s live music, a harvest market, cider, wine, and beer to purchase, and the awesome gourd mountain for selfies! Amid live music, children of all ages can admire the gourd display, find their way around the straw-bale maze, and participate in family activities.

Harbor-Que State Championship BBQ Festival – October 6-8
{Winthrop Harbor} Get ready for an official KANSAS CITY BARBECUE SOCIETY State Championship event, right here in Winthrop Harbor! Includes carnival, live music, and kid’s fun zone.

Great Highwood Pumpkin Fest – October 6-8
{Highwood} Activities include all you can carve onsite pumpkins, Trick or Treating, Costume Contests, Pumpkin Parade, hay rides, pony rides, petting zoo, carnival rides, kids crafts, two stages jam packed with solid entertainment, food and beverage vendors galore and a Superhero 5K Pumpkin Run, Walk/Walk.

Fall on the Farm – October 7-8
{Libertyville} Fall themed crafts and activities will be available including paint a pumpkin, sand art, face painting, decorating a cookie and more. Lake County Farm Heritage Association will be on site with tractors for kids to touch and go for a ride in a barrel train! For the price of $15 per child, enjoy all the event activities as well as a day pass to the Farmyard and Attractions. Adults are $8.

Fall Festival and Pumpkin Giveaway – October 7
Join the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Star Homes for their annual fall festival. The first 500 children will receive a free pumpkin. In addition there will be bounce houses and face painting.

Rib FestOctober 7
{Lake Bluff} Music and fun offered throughout the day.

Fall Festival – October 7
{Island Lake} There will be free hayrides for all and free crafts for the children. Children in Halloween costumes will be entered into a contest with prizes for the top three costumes.
For $3 children will be able to pick a pumpkin right off the vine and decorate it. Food for sale.

Grandwood Park Oktoberfest – October 7
{Grandwood Park} Join your friends and neighbors for an evening of food, refreshments, and entertainment. There will be the wildly popular hayride, food and drinks.

Lake Forest Oktoberfest – October 14
{lake Forest} Fun for the whole family including live music, games, and kids activities. Admission is $10 children 5 and younger are free.

Long Grove DIY Scarecrow Day – October 14
{Long Grove} Help build and dress your own scarecrow to be displayed along the streets of Long Grove. This event takes place on Towner Green. A $5 voluntary donation helps cover the costs of the materials and proceeds will benefit local food shelters.

Libertyville Junior Woman’s Club 16th Annual Pumpkin Fest  – October 14
{Libertyville} Come paint a pumpkin, enjoy live music, and touch the trucks. If you bring a canned food donation you will receive a free pumpkin!

Fall Festival – October 15
{Northbrook} Celebrate the season with a special day of autumn fun with storytelling, beekeeping demonstrations, pumpkin painting, honey, hay rides and more! Admission is free; there are small fees for some activities or bring a non-perishable food item to donate to The Greater Chicago Food Depository in exchange for activity tickets. 1 item=1 ticket

Oaktober Celebration – October 15
{Round Lake} Celebrate not only our state tree, the White Oak, but ALL oaks in and around our state. Crafts, activities, and nature hikes will fill this day!

Antioch Fall Arts & Crafts Fair – October 21-22
{Antioch} Find numerous treasures from some of the country’s finest artisans. There are over 85 booths with a beautiful array of arts and crafts, activities for children, and food.

Stirling Hall Art Bash – October 21
{Lake Forest} This will be a day of demonstrations , hands on activities, try it workshops, and meet and greets.

Fall Family Festival – October 22
{Lake Villa} Busy Brains Childrens’ Museum will host its 3 rd annual Fall Family Festival Sunday, Oct. 2 from 1-4:00 p.m. at Lehmann Park. The afternoon’s activities include an art contest, science activities, obstacle course, face painting, games and raffles. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Croctoberfest – October 22
{Lake Forest} Come celebrate the world of crocodilians with us! A portion of the proceeds from this WDC fundraiser helps support crocodile conservation projects worldwide.

Fall Harvest Blast – October 22
{Grayslake} An afternoon of carnival games, pony rides, and bouncies. Prizes for everyone! Cost is $2 per child which includes 20 tickets and a hot dog supper.

Pumpkin Fest – October 27
{Lake Bluff} There will be a Haunted Shelter, the 5k Race and other park festivities.
