Do you remember the one and two-room schoolhouses our parents and grandparents attended for preschool many moons ago? Well, believe it or not, one still exists today – and it has been engaging young learners in a play-based environment for more than 60 years!
Tucked away on Northern Avenue in Waukegan, AAUW Preschool combines a traditional parent cooperative preschool setting with a modern learning environment and developmentally appropriate best practices. On Sunday August 17 from 1:00-3:00 p.m., AAUW Preschool is holding a Fall Open House. Families are invited to stop by the school to learn about the early childhood programs for children ages 3-5 year olds as well as their parent/child class on Saturdays for youngsters 20-36 months old.
AAUW Preschool is unique in that it is a parent co-operative school, meaning that it is owned and operated by the enrolled families. Staff members and families work together in order to be committed to their children’s education, make informed decisions in the best interest of the students and school as a whole, build a safe and trusting environment for everyone, make school tuition more affordable for all, and in many other ways. AAUW Preschool also offers parent education programs and family events throughout the school-year. Stop by to discover what this hidden gem has to offer to your young learner and family!
AAUW Preschool is enrolling now for the 2014-2015 school year for ages 20 months through 5 years old.
